Says it all huh?

Are we so apathetic as to not even care what is taking place in government at the moment or are we simply just too damn lazy to do anything about it?

I am of course talking about yet another scandal to hit the beltway, and this one exposes the system of greed and corruption that we call the lobby system. Jack Abramoff as most Americans now know is the uber lobbyist who pleaded guilty to several felony charges in a plea agreement in exchange for a lighter sentence and the terms that he cooperate with prosecutors in an expanding investigation that so far involves at least 20 other members of government.

What is even more sad is that Jack is likely to end up as this generations Ollie North, who will fall upon his sword, take a few with him, get pardoned, and end up on the lecture circuit making 100k an hour talking to kids at Vasser college.... puke

It seems that Americans are now so used to near daily announcements of scandal, corruption, and total lack of morals and ethics from out government that we have become numb and almost expectant of continual misuse of power. Unless people get off their lazy asses and rattle a few cages, this will simply continue as business as usual. Most career government type’s count on Americans lack of participation and attention to their actions after an election is over, as this nation suffers from the largest case of mass attention deficit disorder to ever hit the planet.

We have an administration in office that has the benefit of holding a party majority in both the House and the Senate, giving them pretty much a free ticket to do as they please, and they have used it like a drunken sailor in a whorehouse with a fist full of fifties.

Scandal after scandal after scandal, yet complacency. Infringement and manipulation of the very Constitution that gives our basic laws and structure to our society, yet complacency. Exposed and corrupt system of lobbying that has led to widespread abuse, cronyism, and disregard for the people, yet we yawn, pull back then handle on our lazyboy chair and watch the grieving families of lost miners.

What is needed for people to take action and demand transparency and higher ethical standards in government? Do we have mention that a truck load of puppies were exterminated due to the actions of Abramoff? Do we have to say that Brittney Spears was responsible for the evidence brought before Congress to authorize war? Would it make you more interested if I told you that Bush sits in the Oval Office in a diaper with a beer sitting on his bible, a pile of cocaine three feet high, and a bb gun he uses to shoot White House staffers who don’t agree with him?

I will continue to speak out to others, and write my congressman and representatives because now that personal privacy isn’t worth a shit anymore, I know they are listening, because our government fears its own people more than they fear those who wish to do us harm.
