Focus man focus!
Being a bit of a pessimistic centrist, I see this whole Libby, Plame, Cheney, CIA, blah blah blah scandal getting buried soon. Why, because of Supreme Court nominee Alito.
All the hubbub lately about Democrats using filibuster to try and block the nomination of Alito is very well likely to detract from the pressure that needs to be exerted on the current administration over its actions to take America to war with Iraq.
I have been doing some research on Mr. Alito and to be frank, I don’t see this man as the diabolical ideologist that many seem to. Personally I would prefer a more conservative type mindset sitting on the bench so long as they remain judges instead of preachers.
Considering how ineffectual the Democratic leadership has been over the past three years this latest move to call article 21 was pretty smooth and about the only thing they could do in order to keep this issue in the forefront. However the resonance that this has at the moment won’t last as many of the anti-war folks remember the Democratic leadership tucking tail and headed out of town when they marched on the Capital.
While trying to be as effective as they can while they have everyone’s attention, they will likely try to address too many issues under the same umbrella instead of staying focused on the Plame scandal that has wounded White House. In doing so they are more than likely to lose the little bit of effectiveness they have left.
A suggestion to give to the Democratic leadership would be to let the Alito nomination go and stay focused on the issue of the evidence to take the

Do you REALLY think anything will come from this investigation? For all the gnashing of teeth and sackcloth and ashes, I'm willing to bet that NOTHING comes of this. Too many deals made, too many backroom meetings held.
My guess is the determination will read something like this
-"Although intelligence from many sources was used, some contradicting the other, we the Grand Poobahs of Investigations ( GPOI ) find no deliberate attempt by the administration to falsify, manipulate or otherwise stroke the intelligence in order to gain approval for the Iraqi war.
With the benefit of hindsight we the GPOI would come to an opposite conclusion than the administration.
This being said, see you men for after investigation drinks"
Sound about right?
_ you ARE correct....dems need to get back to basics...even BC is scolding them. They need to be FOR something...not merely against the repubs.
I agree we need to focus.
Trying to prune bad fruit from an evil tree is useless.
To make any progress, we must pull it out from its roots.
Demand economic justice!
Understand that the current interest-based monetary financial system siphons wealth from the working class to the idle rich.
As long as our wealth is being robbed from us through this interest-based financial system we will remain powerless to improve our condition.
Can you possibly keep your house warm if you leave the back door wide open?
well it is out in the open now, the players have been named there is no turning back.
Will Libby or Rove face a day in jail, doubtful thanks to preemtive pardon.
however one still has to get up each day and forge ahead as some progress has been made. As it is today, the power of the current administration is greatly diminished from what it was only a year ago. The once impregnable juggernaut has sprug a leak and while they are busy trying to patch it, now is the time to dump a torpedo in her side.
Rough, ha ha, I think pee wee herman was a better choice than Miers. They really dropped the ball on that one.
qrswave, I try to treat things like triage. Leave the head and chest wounds that are beyond hope and attend to the ones that can be fixed. Then move on to the next.
