"In the First Amendment, the Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to fulfill its essential role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed, not the governors. The Government's power to censor the press was abolished so that the press would remain forever free to censure the Government. The press was protected so that it could bare the secrets of government and inform the people. Only a free and unrestrained press can effectively expose deception in government. And paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people and sending them off to distant lands to die of foreign fevers and foreign shot and shell." - NYT vs. US, Justice Black.
Do you realize that there are about the same number of people who think that the media is Liberal as there are people who think Fox news is a fair and balanced presentation. I say to both groups of people, “Step away from the crack pipe”, because you have been so hopped up on the rock so long you still think Flock of Seagulls is a top 10 band. I am not suggesting that the media is right wing establishment either, in fact the closest description I can come up with for the media is yellow, the color of the coward, and even that is nearly too good a description because to be honest I find them down right treasonous.
A liberal media would have held some opposition to the war in
Since the advent of Fox news network’s view from the far right, they are able to point at CNN and MSNBC and say… “Look it’s the liberal media, run for your life, unpatriotic traitors!” it is all I can do to keep from laughing to death, as anything more than two degrees away from Nazi propaganda is now considered liberal. Now to show that I am not completely harsh, I will give Fox news credit in one aspect, if they are talking about the Hollywood insider, people in the news (usually an actor), or Tom Cruise jumping on Ophra’s couch as the reasons they are liberal, then I will give them that. Somehow CNN and MSNBC still think that Harrison Ford’s love life constitutes actual news; excuse me while I hurl. I will even go so far as to say I support Fox news as a legitimate point of view that has every right to be heard, and it should, but so should an opposition point of view, and sadly there are none. Do anyone of you recall during the lead up to war in Iraq any news broadcast media stand up and say “This is just wrong”, no there were none, so much for being liberal or having a backbone.
I can almost for the most brief of moments see why the media was in full support of this administration after the events of September 11th, 2001 as it was a time of confusion, madness, and coming together for the American people in time of tragedy, but that time has come and went. One of the greatest stories of the 21st century is laying at their feet and yet they are seemingly afraid to touch it, and I am talking about the Downing Street Minutes. This single aspect of this administration should be enough to haul in a good many before a grand jury, yet our supposed liberal media won’t touch it with any vigor. There is an ongoing and expanding spy investigation by the FBI into AIPAC members stealing state secrets from the Pentagon and giving them to
Now for anyone in the media that is reading this piece, I suggest to you to rethink what it is you consider news and to give the American public a little more credit as not all of us want to watch Hollywood insider with the label of news. You can keep trying to focus the people’s attention away from real news but all it will do is to lower your own ratings as the people are on to your shell game. Like biting the ear of a virgin to distract her, your tactics of diversion are no longer as effective as they once were as people are becoming wise to it. You are either the largest group of traitorous cowards or you are complicit in promulgating the war parties agenda, either way, you are fast becoming insignificant as a viable means of relevant information. The media’s contempt for people as evidence by statements such as these is becoming clearer each day:
"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
-- Richard Salent, Former President CBS News.
So I leave this with parting words from the author Herman Hesse: "The more individuals capable of watching the world theater calmly and critically, the less danger of monumental mass stupidities - first of all, wars."

Flips you are right on the money. The media of all sides infuriate me. They are all so busy lining up their political talking heads that they have no time for real news.
By all means, let's ignore the the confirmed report of middle eastern looking men who apparently pointed a rocket launcher at low-flying aircraft near Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma earlier this month. It's authentic.

-And the band played on ( and it's not a Flock of Seagulls either )

Middle Eastern men pointing things at low flying objects, Middle American Senators from Kansas trying to interfer with an on-going investigation of Fitzgerald's. who has time for this drivel, Because according CCN, Lisa Kudrow is making a come back and Fox says the Folgers is raising the price of coffee! To top it all off, Shrub wants "intelligent design" taught in school...The nightmare is worse than Flock of Seagulls singing the national anthem at the Daytona NASCAR race.
Thanks Hattie, as even those who don't always agree with my view all seem to agree the press in this country SUZUCKS.

Men and women have died for our right of free speech. Our founding Fathers deemed it so important it is the first admendment to the constitution. So we have the right to disagree with this Administration, right? WRONG!!!
Any disagreement will immediatly label you Un-American, a rebel rouser, ask the Dixie Chicks. They made anti-war statements and were boycotted, their CD's broken, and labeled traitors. Wow where did our freedoms go? I guess the Patriot Act will get the rest of them. Worse part is, I have talk to some of the Neo-Conservatives, and they will say straight up, in their opinon the main thing wrong with America is we have too many rights, shocked the begeezes out of me. I find it hard to believe any faction of politics would want to take away some of the rights that their ancestors died for. Oh well, too much for my little mind to absorb. :D
"To announce that there must be NO criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President Right or Wrong, is not only UNPATRIOTIC and SERVILE, but is Morally TREASONABLE to the American Public." Former Republican President, Theodore Roosevelt
